About JETAA
Sydney JETAA
Sydney JETAA is the alumni association for past participants in
the JET Programme residing in Sydney and New South Wales. Our members
include JET alumni who joined the programme from Sydney, as well
as other JET participants who have moved to Sydney from other chapters.
Our association is more than ten years old and currently has over
360 members.
Sydney JETAA plays a major role in a wide range of Japan-related
activities. Working with the Consulate-General of Japan and the
Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR),
we promote and foster cultural exchange between Australia and Japan,
conduct orientation sessions for new JET Programme participants
prior to their departure for Japan, and provide support to recently
returned JETs.
Sydney JETAA also conducts a variety of social events for its members
during the year.
Sydney JETAA is sponsored by the Council of Local Authorities for
International Relations (CLAIR), under the umbrella of the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo.
The JET Programme
The JET Programme aims to promote internationalisation in Japan
at a local level, by inviting young graduates from abroad to assist
with international exchange and foreign language education.
In Australia, the JET Programme is administered by the Embassy
and Consulates-General of Japan, and by the Council of Local Authorities
for International Relations (CLAIR).
